If you want to know how to motivate kids to get moving in the morning then these tips are for you! Mornings can be one of the most hectic times in a home filled with children.

Starting your children off on the right foot is so important for them to have a good day of learning at school. A hectic and rushed morning can truly wreak your child's whole school day!

Table of Contents

A simple morning checklist can help motivate kids to get moving in the morning.

Most people like to check things off a list after they complete the activities. Children can be taught how to check morning activities off their list and they will learn to love making those little check marks!

You can make a simple morning checklist for each child or one for the whole family! Show your children how to mark off each item as they complete it and it will make the morning much smoother when everyone knows what is expected of them!

Picking out clothing the night before can help motivate kids to get moving in the morning.

The biggest struggle in the morning at our house has always been WHAT TO WEAR. My children and I don't always see eye to eye on what they should wear. One factor may be the weather…they want to wear something that is not appropriate for the weather.

When we pick out their clothing the night before we have the time to discuss the options and my child can get more input on what they want to wear. If we wait till the morning we don't have time to discuss options and my child usually ends up feeling very frustrated and leaves for school upset with me.

Picking out clothing the night before will give your child some buy in and more opportunity for opinions and that will help them get moving the next morning!

Music can help motivate kids to get moving in the morning.

Playing upbeat music in the morning can help keep your kids moving. I know that when I play upbeat music when I am cleaning the house I get a lot more done. The same will be true of your children….the music will help them stay on task and help them get ready!

You can involve the children by allowing them to take turns picking songs. You could even use the songs as a motivator by allowing children who complete their morning tasks on time to pick the music the next day!

Making breakfast a DIY event can motivate kids to get moving in the morning.

Even young children can help get some of their own breakfast foods. If you plan ahead and show your child what their breakfast options are…this will empower your child to eat a healthy breakfast because they are big enough to pick their own breakfast items!

I like to make sure my kids are getting low-fat dairy and fruit with their breakfast each day. I try to keep fresh fruit out on the bar in a basket or cut up in the fridge. There is always milk available in the refrigerator or they can choose to have yogurt instead.

I love to keep belVita Breakfast Biscuits on hand for my kids to grab as part of their balanced, nutritious breakfast. I like that belVita Breakfast Biscuits provide nutritious steady energy all morning. There are lots of delicious varieties available in belVita Breakfast Biscuits so that my children can choose which one they want each day! I try to pick up several varieties of belVita Breakfast Biscuits when I am at Target doing my other shopping and I love that Target has the value-size box now!

Send your child off with a positive and loving message very day to motivate them to get moving in the morning.

I try to never leave the house without reminding my kids that I love them and hope they have a great day. There are days that I give my moody teenagers a loving reminder that their day can be as amazing as they want it to be! I think it is always a good idea to send your children off to school with a positive message about the day to come! Every day really is a blessing and a new opportunity for learning and fun!

If you start sending your children off with a positive and loving message I think this will motivate them to get moving so that they can hear your encouragement as they head out the door!
