Lindsay Lohan secures her first acting role in TWO years (2024)

She has been keeping an increasingly low profile in Hollywood, but now it appears former child star Lindsay Lohan is makingback.

The actress announced her first acting role in two years on Monday, as she stepped onto the set of comedy show Sick Note to feature in its second series.

The US native, 30, seemed ready to pick up where she left off in her high-flying acting career, which saw her take on more than 40 parts in two decades.

Having put her troubles behind her, Linsday debuts an all-new look for the British comedy, with her flame-red hair worn in asymmetric bob and her slick figure dressed for business.

She's even sandwiched between top Brit talent, set to take the screen alongside Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint and Shawn Of The Dead star Nick Frost in the Sky1 show.

While bosses remained pretty tight-lipped about Lindsay's part in the drama, it was revealed that she will play the humorous character Katerina West.

Her manager Scott Carlsen said: 'She loves being back on set filming again, you can really see her passion shine through. We have a lot planned for the year ahead.'

Sick Note tells the story of compulsive liar Daniel Glass (Rupert Grint) who is stuck in a failing relationship and dead-end insurance job, who comes under fire from his irrepressible boss Kenny West (Don Johnson), Katerina's father.

In a bizarre twist of events, Daniel is misdiagnosed with a terminal disease by his doctor Ian Glennis (Nick Frost) who persuades him to keep it a secret from his friends and family.

The fiery-haired beauty looked fresh faced and happy as she debuted her new, bobbed hair look.

Excited to return, the star shared the promotion picture on Twitter saying: 'Jokes with Rupert Grint and Nick Frost on the set of my new show Sick Note.'

Fans flooded the post with gushing compliments, pleased the star is making a comeback, with one saying: 'I'm crying you look so good.'

'Good to see you back in the game. Stay clean and healthy!'

Another added: 'Legend! Love you so much and wish you the best.'

Recently, Lindsay discussed how she missed her Hollywood lifestyle in an interview withE! news.

Reflecting on her time in the spotlight, she told the publication:'I miss it but at the same time, I'm creating a bunch of different things on my own so I want to focus on what I'm doing.

'I think there's a lot of noise that we deal with, so I found a kind of peace in life working with children and helping other people that really interest me.'

In her Hollywood heyday, Lindsay made as much as $7 million dollars per film.

Lindsay started out as a child model, staring in ad campaigns and commercials before she played the role of twins in The Parent Trap.

The Disney film personality secured lead roles in Freaky Friday and Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen before landing her breakout role in 2004's Mean Girls.

Lindsay's last acting role was in the short film Till Human Voices Wake Us in 2015, her 42nd part in her high-flying acting career, according to IMDB.

The flame-haired actress left Hollywood in 2013, following a troublesome few years in the spotlight where she became involved in heavy partying.
