- Asher's Point Of View.
- "Trust me, Bruno... I can't wait to see what you do. I cannot wait to be replaced by another Alpha!" I snarled, the words dripping with sarcasm and a tinge of bitter anticipation.
- Spinning around abruptly, I rushed out of the hall, leaving behind a trail of charged emotions and the weight of unspoken challenges.
- The resounding bang of the door, closed forcefully behind me, echoed the malevolent intentions lingering in the room.
- The reverberations carried a sense of finality, emphasising the separation between me and the brewing rage within.
- Their clear disdain for me as their Alpha and their apparent intention to replace me didn't faze me. Little did they know, I couldn't be replaced.
- My father had died as the Alpha, and I was about to follow in his footsteps. I couldn't allow the elders' terrible schemes to succeed as they intended.
- I was going to fight with all of my strength and power. I wasn't going to give in to them, not when they were able to embarrass me in front of the entire pack.
- As it stands, I'm guessing the news or rumours in the pack are that I wasn't being fair when I rejected Claire. But that was hardly the entire tale.
- I returned to my room, threw the door open, and sat down on my couch. I wasn't sure what the elders wanted from me yet, but it was evident that they'd do everything to get me to step down from my seat.
- Seated in my room, my gaze fixed on the bed in front of me, I found myself lost in contemplation when Beta Drake approached and knocked on the door, disrupting the quietude that enveloped the space.
- It was just his usual manner.
- "Alpha..." he began, but I tuned out his words. I had grown weary of constantly hearing everyone refer to me as the Alpha for the day.
- The weight of the title had become burdensome, and I needed a rest from the constant reminders.
- "Please… address me as you used to" I demanded, and he sat down on my bed.
- "Don't you think it's time you accept the deal of the elders?" he suggested, prompting me to lift my gaze to meet his face.
- "And what is that supposed to mean, Drake?" I inquired, adopting an air of uncertainty as if I was unaware of the point he was attempting to convey.
- "You understand exactly what I'm saying, Asher! You do not have a mate. Claire is there for you. I watched how she clutched you and begged you... She loves you, Asher, and I know it!"
- Drake attempted to get me to fall for Claire, the same girl who was born from my enemy? There was no way I could allow him to force me to make such a mistake.
- "Are you insane? Come on Drake… If anyone told me that you'd say such a thing, I would never have believed it! Are you listening to yourself? What do you want me to do? I accept Claire?"
- I scoffed and shook my head before relaxing on my seat. The words Drake had said genuinely amazed me.
- "I know you hate her father so much, Asher, but think about it; she might become your mate as time goes on. Accept her, and…" He was going to say it again, but I was tired of hearing him talk about how Claire was the ideal bride or Luna for me.
- "Get out, Drake!" I ordered with a strong voice, my gaze concentrated on him.
- "What?" He snapped; he didn't expect me to send him out of my room in that manner.
- "But I just got here!" He defended himself.
- "You just did, and it is time to leave. You're becoming a thorn in my flesh tonight! I'm tired of seeing you in my room! Leave!" I got to my feet, walked up to the door, and opened it for him.
- "Asher, do not do this... Okay, fine... I promise not to talk about Claire again. I understand you don't want her!" He assured me, and I instantly believed him.
- If he wasn't going to keep talking about marrying her then I was willing to let him stay in my room for a few more hours.
- But as I returned to the couch, Drake made one of the most ridiculous statements of all time, as if he was waiting for me to sit down.
- "But, come on, Asher! You must fall in love or else the pack will believe their Alpha is a gay, and they may perceive me as gay as well. Get married to Claire." He demanded, and I stood up immediately.
- I walked up to him, and before he could say anything about Claire, I took him out of my room and closed the door in his face.
- "Never return!! If you love her so much, go marry her!" I yelled loudly before scoffing and returned to my bedside.
- I climbed into it and covered myself. It was late, and I needed to rest for the night. As I stared at the clock leaning against the wall, I couldn't help ponder about Drake's last statement to me.
- He wasn't lying; I could be labelled as a gay, but if it was the only way to keep my innermost secrets hidden from everyone in the pack, I was willing to do it.
- Just as I was reflecting on the events of the day, I blacked out and found myself standing before a tug of war.
- "What's happening?" As I peered around the environment, I inquired softly. I was still before the mansion, but it wasn't the one I slept in.
- My hand suddenly felt sticky, and gazing down at them, I froze in my tracks.
- The unexpected sight of blood sent shivers down my spine. Panic gripped me as I stared at the crimson stain on them.
- The ruthless and icy Alpha, usually fearless, now trembled in the face of an unknown terror lurking in the shadows.
- The lingering terror of what I witnessed hadn't released its grip when my mother's sobs shattered the uneasy tension, sending a fresh wave of fear through me.
- Raising my head, I realised the rogues had stormed the mansion, forcefully taking away my helpless parents.
- The grim reality unfolded before me, intensifying the fear that had already clenched my heart.
- A surge of adrenaline pumped through me, and tears burst forth uncontrollably as the overwhelming intensity of the situation crashed down on my weak emotions.
- "No! Let them go! Go!" I screamed, dashing towards the unfolding chaos of war that played out before my eyes.
- Members of the pack fell, their lives ended, blood staining the ground. The rogues were winning the fight, a grim reality happening as the battle tilted in their favour.
- In a desperate bid to rescue my mother and father from the clutches of the rogues, I stretched out my hand, but an eerie stillness enveloped the scene. A sudden turn of events occurred.
- Every gaze turned toward me, as if the very moon goddess had forsaken my cause.
- They could see and hear me. They began to trudge towards me, sneering and covered in blood.
- My father and mother wore malevolent sneers, each step they took toward me resonating with a chilling boldness that sent shivers down my spine.
- "What..." I stuttered, terror re ndering my words shaky. I took hesitant steps backward, only to slip on my own unsteady footing.
