This is one of the easiest playdough recipes we’ve tried with just 3 ingredients. Not only does it feel great, it takes 2 minutes to put together.
If you’ve got a toddler or little one who likes to put playdough in their mouth, then you can worry a little less when they’re playing with this one. As it’s made with all edible ingredients.
Texture-wise it’s soft and mouldable. There are no crumbly bits that stick to the table or floor.
It’s fun to squish and stretch, to roll out and cut into shapes. And it’s easy to clean up too. This could become our new go-to playdough recipe!

You will need:
To make one small ball of edible playdough:
- 10 medium white marshmallows
- 2 teaspoons of coconut oil
- 4-5 tablespoons of cornflour
- Food colouring

Step 1: Melt the marshmallows with coconut oil
Place the marshmallows and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil in a microwave-proof bowl and heat in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
It is better to heat the marshmallows up in short bursts (for about 10 seconds at a time), keeping a close eye on them.
You want to melt them until they start to rise and puff up.

Step 2: Add the cornflour and food colouring
Add a few tablespoons of cornflour into your mixture together with a couple of drops of food colouring.
Stir the mixture with a spoon until it’s thick and too hard to stir. If it’s still sticky, add more cornflour a spoonful at a time.

Step 3: Knead with your hands
Take the mixture out of the bowl and knead it with your hands. We scattered cornflour on a board first to make sure it didn’t stick.
If it’s still sticky, add more cornflour (a bit at a time).
If it sticks to your hands rub a bit of coconut oil onto them. Knead the mixture until it feels like playdough.

What should marshmallow playdough feel like when it’s ready?
Marshmallow playdough is soft and easy to squash.
You can roll it into a ball and out again with a rolling pin. You can then use cookie cutters or playdough cutters to make shapes.
It has a shiny finish (because of the coconut oil) and smells incredible.
If your child does take a little bite out of the playdough, it tastes very sweet but is not so tasty that they’d be tempted to eat it all.
It should be said that it’s not that long lasting and should be kept in an airtight container in the fridge if you’re storing it and only for a day or two.
If it gets hard, pop it back in the microwave for 10 seconds to soften it up.

You’re all set to start the squashing and moulding of this edible marshmallow playdough.
It isn’t messy to make and is as easy as it gets without cooking required.
This edible marshmallow playdough is one of the easiest homemade playdough recipes we’ve tried. Itwas inspired by a few online but in particular the one by Debbie from the amazing Onelittleproject.
You can’t really go wrong and within minutes you have some gorgeous putty to play with.
If any of it ends up in your child’s mouth you don’t have to worry too much as it’s all edible.

Edible Marshmallow Playdough
Edible marshmallow playdough with just 3 ingredients needed. Easy to make for an indoor activity at home with the kids. As it's edible playdough even toddlers can play too.

- 10 medium marshmallows white

Instructions
Place the marshmallows in a microwave-proof bowl with the coconut oil
Heat for 30 seconds in a microwave, 10 seconds at a time. Let the marshmallows puff up, stop the heat until they collapse down and start it again.
Add a few tablespoons of cornflour and drops of food colourings into the melted marshmallows.
Stir everything together until it's thick and too hard to stir.
Take the mixture out and knead it on a clean surface sprinkled with cornflour.
If it gets too sticky add more cornflour. If you need to make it smoother add a small amount of coconut oil at a time.
When it feels like playdough and is smooth and easy to roll into a ball and out again, it's ready to play with!
