Edible Pudding Play Dough Tips

What if the consistency doesn’t feel quite right?

If your edible play dough doesn’t feel quite right the fix is simple! Simply add a little more cornstarch (just a tablespoon at a time) if the mixture is too runny. On the flip side, if your play dough is too dry just add warm water a few drops at a time. This play dough will not feel the same as play dough made with school glue or borax as ingredients are food; it can be compared more to Yogurt Putty. As you mix it together you will find what feels just right.

How long will Pudding Play Dough keep?

This tasty craft will only last a few days as it is made with food ingredients. You can preserve your edible pudding play dough in a ziploc bag or any airtight container. Of course, the cleaner the hands the longer it keeps! Be sure to wash those little hands before pudding play begins as this will help with preservation and keep any extra germs out of the mouths of Pudding Play Dough nibblers.

Can I use other pudding flavors?

Absolutely! Most often I opt for Vanilla Pudding and add food coloring but I highly recommend mixing it up. If you love butterscotch pudding or have chocolate addicts in your home – give them a try! Of course, like brown chocolate pudding, if you come across mint or pistachio pudding you won’t even need to add food coloring as those flavorful pudding mixes will already be fun shades of green.

Additional Tips for creating Edible Pudding Play Dough:

  • When it comes to adding in food coloring I recommend mixing your play dough in ziploc bags or glass bowls to avoid staining plastic bowls.
  • Wear food safe rubber gloves to avoid stained fingers and hands when knead the food coloring into your tasty play dough.
  • Gloves will not be necessary for play; once the food coloring is absorbed you should be all clear to handle the colorful play dough without staining those little fingers playing with it.
